Elk Habitat

WHAT WE DO

A winding trail in the woods near Troy, Montana, marked with bright orange tape, guides the way through lush greenery, showcasing the area's natural beauty and serenity.

Thin The Forest

First, we thin the forest to let sunlight in and prepare the soil for seeding. Timber sales cover the cost of our work—and often pay you. Then we seed with pasture mix.

Grow The Pasture

Next, we cover seeded areas with logging slash to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, prevent erosion, and protect from birds. With enough rain and time, the pasture mix grows in.

Bring The Game

Large elk herds thrive in pasture lands and hay fields due to abundant forage. More food means healthier, flourishing elk populations.
